Hateful Eight Review
By LEe Marcussen
Myself and Edwin are big Quentin Tarantino fans so when we saw the trailer for The Hateful Eight we both were very excited. I lucked out and got some tickets to the 70mm Roadshow. With it being a special showing of the film the tickets were harder to get but I lucked out and our good buddy Tony hooked me up!
A quick overview of the movie (spoiler free).... The movie trailer itself doesn't really show what the movie is about so it starts off with John Ruth (Kurt Russel) who is a bounty hunter with captured criminal Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who are on a horse carriage heading towards a city named Red Rock, with a blizzard following not far behind. They're trying to get to a place to stop and wait for the blizzard to blow over. On their way, they run into Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson) who is also a bounty hunter. He hitches a ride with John Ruth and heads on further as they go along they run into a man walking by himself in the blizzard this man is Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins) who claims to be the new Red Rock Sheriff and if they don't give him a ride they can't turn in the prisoner for the bounty. They all then go to and stop at Minnie's Haberdashery where they plan to wait out the rest of the blizzard. There are four others who are also waiting out the blizzard and that's where things take the turn.

Seeing it in 70mm was great and very different from other movies I've seen the screen was wider and I want to say there was more background detail. At the Roadshow showing the theater gave us a pamphlet of the movie that had character bios, pictures of the movie, and an explanation of 70mm film. The Roadshow also included an extended intro as well as an intermission was also around 12 mins long.
Now overall the whole movie was great. The acting was amazing, and I felt that every actors dialogue was spot on with accents and you really believe that you are in the time era. The fighting and action scenes are top notch and have that classic Tarantino gore and blood. There are parts where you'll laugh hard and parts where you'll get grossed out. There are many twists to it that will have you thinking about every part of the movie. I personally loved the movie and loved the 70mm film. I believe its one of his best works and up there with my favorites, maybe top 3 of his movies.
