While everyone is getting their fill of the brand-new Zelda game, something retro this way comes. Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King by indie game studio Castle Pixel is adventuring its way to Steam on March 28th. As a top-down action RPG with retro sounds and graphics, it is very easy to draw comparisons with the likes of Zelda: A Link to the Past and its ilk.
The story of Blossom Tales unfurls as a grandfather passing down a fable to his grandchildren. He tells the story of a heroic girl named Lily. The same day she becomes a member of the esteemed Knights of the Rose, an evil wizard by the name of Crocus puts the king under an everlasting magical sleep (kind of a jerk thing to do). This sends Lily on a quest in search of a cure. Features - 15+ hours of gameplay - Huge, diverse game world with many locations - 5 challenging dungeons - Various items impacting gameplay and fighting style - Fun charming storytelling Judging from by the trailer and the screenshots, Blossom Tales is looking pretty good. It definitely gives off a strong Zelda vibe. You can view the Steam store page here if you're feeling curious: http://store.steampowered.com/app/446810/ You know the drill.
