Super Hydorah

Picture
Got some awesome news today for fans of retro-style arcade games! Locomalito and Abylight  Studios are teaming up again to breath new life into another popular created by Locomalito similar to what they did last year with Maldita Castilla EX. The newest game to receive the Cinderella treatment is Super Hydorah. A non-linear shoot em up with an old-school difficulty, multiple paths and endings? I'm definitely intrigued. The soundtrack is done by Gryzor87, the same man responsible for the Maldita Castilla EX so you know it's going to sound authentically retro! So far, no information is available in regards to the release date or the platforms it will be on, more info is expected to be released in the near future. Here's a blurb from the official press release, along with a rundown of some of the games features:
An evil force has launched an invasion over the Omios star. Only you, the most skilled and deadly pilot of the galaxy, can face the dreadful menace of the Meroptians, bio-mechanical creatures set in a ruthless war of conquest. Equip your ship, select a route and fight planet by planet against the hordes of Meroptians!

Features

●Old-school gameplay: easy to learn, damn hard to master!
●16-32 bit era look and feel
●20 levels divided into 30 sublevels, 30 bosses and more than 70 enemies
●3 games modes: single player, co-op multiplayer and a robot control spin-off
●Non-linear level layout with route selection
●Dangers of different nature in each level (not just bullets)
●Weapon selection menu, power ups and unlockable new weapons in every mission
●Original soundtrack with 49 tracks
●Secret objects and special heroic ending
●Secrets, achievements and range system
●CRT Monitor effect

NIGhtmare Boy RElease Window Announced

Nightmare Boy, the latest title from The Vanir Project and published by BadLand Games, is coming to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Q3 of 2017. This title is a “psychedelic” metroidvania 2D platformer that lives in a world that thrives on your worst nightmares. Victor Avila, The Vanir Project’s head programmer states that “[They] hope players will get a kick out of Nightmare Boy’s unique look, atmosphere, and story, while facing unspeakable, unstoppable horrors”. This title provides a hellish open world in your adventure to save children from various captors. Each child saved will grant the player special abilities, such as double jump and various projectiles. The game is full of quirky characters that have reactions that could change the game entirely, so choose your words and actions carefully. Key Features for the game include the following:
  • Sharp Controls that give the play complete control with double jump, triple jumps, wall grabbing, spells, and more.
  • A world map that reveals the far corners of the nightmare the further your path takes you
  • Hidden collectibles that are able to reveal a multitude of possible endings
  • Precious Stones that are used to purchase items at the store or sacrificed as tribute to save the game.
  • Player Choice: You are able to choose who you want to talk to and talk to someone could change the outcome completely.

While this game is not available until Q3 of 2017, the Steam Greenlight page can be visited with this link if you are interested in checking the game out. But I warn you, the nightmare might consume you!
