July Games With Gold

Celebrating its two year anniversary, July's Games With Gold will see Xbox One get two new selections as opposed to the standard one. Its also one of the few times we have seen a retail game go up for free, if not the first time ever with Assassins Creed Black Flag being free the entire month. Below is the full list for both Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Picture
Xbox One
    -Assassins Creed Black Flag (7/1-7/31)
    -So Many Me (7/16-8/15)

Xbox 360
    -Plants vs Zombies (7/1-7/15)
    -Gears of War 3 (7/16-7/31)

I will plan on downloading every Xbox 360 freebie from here on out, just to add more selections to my backwards compatibility list.

True Detective Season 1

Picture
The True Detective season one is about two detectives Marty Hart (Played by Woody Harrelson) and his partner Rusty Cohle (played by Matthew McConaughey). The series starts out with two cops interviewing both Marty and Rusty in present time asking them about a crime they solved back in the mid-1990s. The cool thing about the series is the cut backs to when the two detectives were working together to solve a satanic sacrifice style murder. With the flashbacks it shows them getting a call about a woman who had been murdered and bound to a tree with deer antlers mounted on her head. This is the first case that Marty and Rusty work on together. Read More

Jurassic World Review

Picture
Dinosaurs have always been cool. Always. They will always be relevant, and the proof is in my seven going on eight year old brother who strives to be a paleontologist. While his career path may pan out differently, there are undoubtedly other kids out there who have the same feelings and passions for the beasts long gone of this world. Jurassic World brings them back to life, satisfying not only the young ones who love dinosaurs, but the kids in us that grew up with the original Jurassic Park as a staple in their list of favorite movies. This movie hits the right spots in relieving classic theater moments of awe and amazement. Read More

Minecraft Xbox One Edition Review

Picture
Now I’ll admit at first when I saw my younger brother playing Minecraft I thought it was developed for younger gamers. But after I tried it for myself I was quick to change my opinion on it because of the vast diversity of such as simple idea. The whole principle of the game is you’re Steve a pixelized character and you have the ability to build the world around you up by using simple pixel blocks that have different textures and colors for the ability to construct different structures and also craft some blocks into tools. Battlefield Hardline Review (Xbox One)

Picture
This game seemed like something that could have been a sleeper hit. It had all the right fixings, it strayed from the traditional military stories of other Battlefields, and it was made by Visceral (of Dead Space 1&2 acclaim, I would rather not mention 3). You get to be a gritty cop who gets into intense moments that feel natural and test your morals, sounds awesome! Unfortunately though, the final product feels more like a second rate episode of CSI: Miami. Granted it has some good moments, but much of the game left me wanting more. The story is intriguing at times, but again is less reminiscent of great cop drama properties like The Shield and End of Watch and ends up being more like a forgettable episode of a cop show that only lasted one season. It is just a very bland story. I understand that Battlefield’s focus is traditionally multiplayer, but the forefront of this one should have been its core story. It suffers from a clear issue of not knowing what it wants to be. It is at times serious, and others not serious enough. There is no clear distinction of the feel that the developers wanted to give. #TBTReview New Super Mario Bros

Picture
New Super Mario Bros is one of my most beloved games on the original DS. It took everything great about the series and just plain made it one of the best mobile experiences ever. The controls were tight, and new additions like the giant mushroom made their mark on the franchise. Lengthy, fun, and full of coins to collect it was well worth the purchase. I actually still have an issue of Cheat Codes magazine with all the Giant Coin locations. Fun boss fights and cute animations meant tons of fun natural to the series. Not only that but it had competitive multiplayer mini games that were ridiculously fun both solo and with a friend. One of the best in the series without a doubt. 9.5/10

#TextCast june 12th, 2015

This is our first Text Cast since the site has launched so we are going to talk about that for a bit and express our ideas about it. It has been a successful launch in my opinion, and after being around less than a month has garnered 455 unique visitors (over double our twitter following) and nearly 1800 pageviews. How are you liking the site so far?

I really love the site. You have done a great job setting it up and getting everything add in and the archive ability is great.

Obviously we can't add to it all the time because it is our hobby and we dont always have the time, but if we keep this pace up I say we are heading in the right direction. It is nice to use Twitter in unison with it, and even have our Twitter stream on our homepage after you had me see if it could be done. How else do you see us expanding it in the months to come?

I think more promotions and twitter is the biggest ways to expand. I hope we expand more. It will be nice when we get to the point where someone's like oh  there's a new mtn dew out I wonder how it is and they go to our site.

Yeah I definitely think we have the means to grow bigger, we just need to keep going after the followers and reach out. I am satisfied with our nearly 200 followers in the course of a couple months but I know we can do better. I just hope we can get on a level of an engaged community tweeting us and us tweeting back.

Yes that would be great. It'd be nice if the site blew up and we got sponsors so I didn't have to work lol.

Hahaha yes, I love doing this so much more than actual work. Even though I switched majors I really am still a journalist at heart. I think one of our biggest issues to overcome obviously is that we cant do live streams hardly ever since we live in different states.

Yes that is frustrating. We need to find away to do stream from different places.

We will have to look into it. Looking towards the future if we can keep the drive and success going, I would like to invest in a capture device for recording beyond that of Xbox Ones capabilities and even replacing my laptop with a Surface Tablet so I can do more photo and site editing from one device.

That would be a really good step towards it. I just need to do more reviews and buy more games.

I buy too many games is my issue haha. Any games that you are planning on getting here soon as we wrap up this weeks discussion?

I'm buying fallout day one and that's all I have planned lol.

Well obviously haha. Alright readers join us tonight around 9pm Eastern Time as we should be doing a live Twitch Cast since Lee is back in town. Who knows we may even have some giveaways! Thanks for all the support, be sure to follow us on Twitter if you do not already @Player2Reviews Stay tuned for more reviews on games, movies, and more! #TextCast
