It is common knowledge that we here at Player2Reviews love indie games, and it’s definitely no secret to anyone who knows me that I love me some RPGs. So when I see a game pop up that is greatly inspired by two of my favorites -Final fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre- I tend to take notice. Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark is a turn-based tactical RPG currently in the works from 6 Eyes Studio in Orlando, Florida. Just looking at the nice hand-drawn 2D art style evokes plenty of nostalgic feels. In this regard, it reminds me more of Tactics Ogre than anything. On the gameplay side of things, Fell Seal sounds quite meaty. The developers expect the game to be around 25-35 hours plus an additional 10 hours of post-game content. There is a job system with over 20 classes to choose from once unlocked (not including secret classes) and a bunch of different skills and abilities to learn for each class. There’s a robust appearance customization option as well, so there are plenty of ways to tweak your team: in my opinion, this is one of the best things about a game like this. It really helps to make your team feel unique to you. Other people can play the game, but they’ll never have the exact same group and ability set as you do. The story has an interesting premise, as you can see here from an excerpt from the Kickstarter page:
The story of Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark takes place in a fantasy world where all the lands are unified under the rule of the Immortal Council, a group of eternal rulers with the purpose of keeping stability and order throughout the world. Their stated goal is to avoid a repeat of the great catastrophe that saw them rise to power a millennia ago, when they took down a savage mythical beast on a rampage. The Council relies upon their mortal agents, the Arbiters, to guard the land's people and enforce the peace. Arbiters range over the land, rooting out bandits, unruly monsters, and crooked officials; their word is law. You will be taking control of Kyrie, one such Arbiter, as she uncovers the deepening corruption pervading her order. It'll fall to you to halt the spread of a threat as great as the catastrophe that gave rise to the Immortal Council so long ago. Interested?
