10/14/2015 0 Comments Star Wars BattleFront Beta ImpressionsNow i know this was a beta, so my exceptions are never going to be met on a free trial of the game. The beta itself was a nice change of pace for someone like me who has been playing Farm Simulator and Gears of War. I also loved Battlefront 2 for the PS2. This to me feels like a Call of Duty-esque reboot. To start you have the "Story mode", which is a co-op survival mode. It is a lot like Gears of War's "Horde" mode which is a really cool game mode, including upgrades and power ups. The other side of the beta is the multiplayer offerings. There are two modes of multiplayer available for the beta, with those being "Drop Zone" and "Walker Assault". I could never get in a game for Drop Zone so i don't know what it's like. It was most likely cool, but I missed out because the servers sucked ass. The Walker Assault also takes what felt like 10 years to get into a game. The multiplayer lets you change blasters and these "Battle Cards" which serve as perks of sorts. You also have the ability of having different grenades and shit. Throughout the one map you play through the scene of Hoth from the movies. You can pick up these icons that give you different items such as grenades, power ups, vehicles, and even some hero icons. I'm not entirely sure on if these spawn randomly or what but i think it has its pros and cons of the system. I figured the hero system would be more like a kill streak, where you get 10 kills without dying and you get to be Darth Vader, but the pro side is if you suck you still can earn them. The fighting is pretty much a mass cluster fuck with blasters shooting across the map back and forth. Very fast paced with a lot of action going on during the whole game. The map itself is HUGEEEEEE, almost too big because you spend a lot of time running everywhere. You spend a good amount of time running back and forth. One feature that i think is really great that i haven't seen in a game is the ability to have a battler "partner". This feature allows you to spawn wherever your battle buddy is at. This is fucking awesome if your boy is in the middle of a firefight and BAM, you spawn and you both fuck them up! Overall i played about 7- 10 hours of the beta on Xbox One. I enjoyed it plus I'm happy it was free and available to everyone. Very positive experience, and looking forward to the final product. Star Wars Battlefront drops in next month on November 17th.
