12/4/2016 0 Comments The Playstation Experience 2016 The Playstation Experience 2016 Telltale’s Announcements – The Walking Dead Gather round, people of the internet. We have some things to discuss. The Playstation Experience 2016 kicked off this weekend, bringing plenty of awesome news for gamers everywhere. We’re going to start things off with big news from one of my favorite developers, Telltale Games. I’m sure that by now, most people know that Season 3 of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series, going by the name of A New Frontier is slated for a December 20th release. What we now know is that it will be a special double-episode premiere, so we’ll be able to play the first two episodes at launch! There are some nice preorder bonuses to provide an incentive for people to preorder early. For PC players, Steam is offering a 10% discount on the full season. Playstation 4 owners can receive digital copies of every episode of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season 2, and The Walking Dead: Michonne. Xbox owners, as usual, get nothing. The physical disc version of The Walking Dead - A New Frontier is expected to release on February 14th, 2017. How romantic. The Walking Dead - A New Frontier also had a new extended trailer shown off at the event, featuring all hell breaking loose in Javier’s family’s household at the beginning of the outbreak. It then skips forward a few years to show him speaking with a grown-up and more hardened Clementine. The first season portrayed Clem as a helpless young girl who was rescued by Lee, a history teacher with a sad past who was on his way to prison when the apocalypse broke loose. During the course of season 2, which takes place a couple of years later, it shows that Lee’s guidance has turned her into quite a capable survivor, despite being so young. I’m very intrigued to see what kind of an impact a few more years will have on her character in the 3rd season. Here is a link to the extended trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PO5g0vVPlM Guardians of the Galaxy Also officially announced was the next IP to get the Telltale special treatment, Guardians of the Galaxy. There isn’t much info to go on, and the trailer was nothing more than a 40-second teaser showing nothing but a Walkman floating in space and the title. However, that didn’t stop me from getting extremely hyped! The press release mentions that you will take on multiple roles of the ragtag crew of misfits, so I’m assuming it will work out a little like their take on Borderlands, with the perspective shifting between multiple characters. This can be quite a bit of fun, considering how much personality each member has. I can imagine myself already, taking on the role of Peter Quill and being a smartass and general nuisance to everyone dashingly handsome and helpful person. Or running my mouth and waving an oversized gun around as Rocket Raccoon! But alas, only time will tell as I eagerly keep my eyes peeled for new information. Guardians of the Galaxy is supposedly releasing sometime in 2017. The teaser can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Koy_e_ipwng By: Richard Jewell
